Who is Gaia

My First Encounter with Gaia Theory

Oh My Gaia

Short Synopsis

This novel is about Gaia, a long forgotten earth goddess whose name, when associated with an impactful scientific hypothesis about global warming, had the effect of reviving a spiritual metaphor with the potential to inspire universal reverence for everything alive on our planet. Her story is revealed through the lives of two aspiring scientists. Maggie is a young mixed-race girl from southern California who commiserates with sea gulls and studies deep ecology at a fictional university in Maryland. Chuy is a Kishwa mestizo from Amazonian Ecuador who studies Ornithology at Cornell University. After several years of cerebral romance on the internet, they physically meet, fall in love, and are selected from a large pool of couples who compete online for a free wedding in which the winners commit to stand in as bride and groom for a widely publicized marriage of Gaia to God that is live streamed around the world.
